There's good cinema, and then there's great cinema (there may or may not be more options, but I have yet to experience it).  With that said, Trash Film Debauchery screenings are a real treat.  Check out their latest offering:

Trash Film Debauchery Happiness of the Katakuris The Trylon Wed Feb 23 7:30  (2001, Takashi Miike, DVD, 113m) The Katakuris are a family full of failures. They decide to open a bed and breakfast called "White Lover's Inn" but somehow each of their guests end up dead. Worried about the future of their B&B, they agree to keep the deaths a secret and bury the bodies in the back yard which eventually results in a zombie problem. There are some hilarious song and dance numbers, weird claymation sequences, a British naval officer who claims to be the nephew of Queen Elizabeth but looks suspiciously Japanese, and an erupting volcano. Directed by acclaimed Japanese shock-master, Takashi Miike. Guaranteed to entertain!

So all of you out there complaining about the dearth of zombie musicals can officially quit whining.

You read that right.  Catch God's gift to film lovers worldwide, Jean-Claude Van Damme and Dennis Rodman, in the seminal masterpiece, Double Take:

In this super 90's gem from Tsui Hark, retired anti-terrorist operative Jack Quinn (Jean-Claude Van Damme) and weapons dealer YAZ (Dennis Rodman) (double) team up to bring down the evil terrorist Stavros (Mickey Rourke). Stavros is trying to kill Quinn's pregnant wife out of REVENGE for the death of his own girlfriend and son.

Lots of shit blows up, there are terrible one-liners, and Dennis Rodman wears stupid outfits. Oh, and Van Damme kicks a tiger. Don't miss it!

I almost forgot that movie theaters still operate during the winter months.  Trash Film Debauchery's got a show for you at the Trylon tomorrow night, starting at 7:30:

Trash Film Debauchery Magadheera The Trylon Wed Jan 26 7:30  (2009, S.S. Rajamouli, DVD) WOW! I'm not sure a movie could be any more epic than Magadheera. Harsha is a care-free motorcycle racer who happens to touch the hand of a woman named Indu and is immediately overcome with a love that dates back to the 1600's. You see, Harsha and Indu were star-crossed lovers in the ancient Kingdom of Udaigarh but died a tragic death trying to be together. The film flashes back and forth from their ancient love story to their struggles to regain their memories and be together in modern day. Romance aside, this movie is AWESOME! Limbs go flying, awesome mustaches abound, and a dude crashes his jeep into a helicopter. And of course there are several ridiculous musical numbers to get stuck in your head.

Trash Film Debauchery Haunted Cop Shop The Trylon Wed Nov 24 7:30  (1987, Jeffrey Lau, DVD) Before he hit the big time with Chungking Express, acclaimed art house director Wong Kar-Wai produced this knockabout scream-fest, starring a young Jacky Cheung who went on to star in most of Wong’s biggest films. This case pits a precinct against a horde of vampire foes. Surprisingly creepy, often hilarious, and sometimes wildly tasteless, this 1987 oddity contains lots of exorcisms, acrobatic feats and a grisly game of mahjong.

Umm, I don't see this anywhere in Criterion Collection.  What's the hold up, chief?

A scientific expedition searching for fossils along the Amazon River discover a prehistoric Gill-Man in the legendary Black Lagoon. The explorers capture the mysterious creature, but it breaks free. The Gill-Man returns to kidnap the lovely Kay, fiancée of one of the expedition, with whom it has fallen in love. In glorious 3-D!

The Nightmare Before Christmas. Fri & Sat; 11:30 @ Riverview.  Tim Burton's claymation holiday-fusion piece:

Despite having recently presided over a very successful Halloween, Jack Skellington, aka the Pumpkin King, is bored with his job and feels that life in Halloweenland lacks meaning. Then he stumbles upon Christmastown and promptly decides to make the Yuletide his own.

Hausu. Sun; 5:15 7:00 8:45 10:30 @ Trylon. Not to be missed by campy horror enthusiasts.  Apparently Criterion agrees:

How to describe Nobuhiko Obayashi’s indescribable 1977 movieHouse (Hausu)? As a psychedelic ghost tale? A stream-of-consciousness bedtime story? An episode of Scooby-Doo as directed by Mario Bava? Any of the above will do for this hallucinatory head trip about a schoolgirl who travels with six classmates to her ailing aunt’s creaky country home and comes face-to-face with evil spirits, a demonic house cat, a bloodthirsty piano, and other ghoulish visions, all realized by Obayashi via mattes, animation, and collage effects. Equally absurd and nightmarish, House might have been beamed to Earth from some other planet. Never before available on home video in the United States, it’s one of the most exciting cult discoveries in years.

Joan Crawford is really brilliant in this outrageous over the top William castle directed “Axe-ploitation” thriller from 1964. Written by Psycho author Robert Bloch, it tells the tale of Lucy (Joan Crawford) who twenty years earlier took an Axe and murdered her cheating husband and his mistress in a fit of rage, now she has been released from the Asylum cured. But is she, as suddenly strange and horrible things begin to happen all over again. This is a true cult camp horror classic that is not to be missed on the big screen!!! DIGITAL PRESENTATION.

Halloween season means plenty of trashy, dated horror films.  With that said, Trash Film Debauchery lives halloween all year round.  This fall TFD's bringing kung fu horror to your neighborhood, including Wed night's screening of The Dead and the Deadly:

Trash Film Debauchery The Dead and the Deadly The Trylon Wed Oct 27 7:30  (1982, Ma Wu, DVD, 97min) While the most famous “hopping” vampire film ever made is still Mr. Vampire (yes, hopping—in China, vampires literally hop around), this 1982 spooky ghost busting classic came earlier. A vehicle for moon-faced martial arts favorite Sammo Hung, and the uni-browed Lam Ching Ying, Hung plays a naive simpleton who participates in a complex scheme to commit fraud by pretending that his friend is dead. Only slightly more mature than your average 80's saturday morning cartoon. this turbo-charged horror comedy is a perfect example of crude and bizarre world of 80 supernatural kung fu cinema.
