rare jazz moments at the trylon this thursday

Thursday night sees the second showing in Take-Up Productions recent collaboration with local jazz station 88.5 KBEM.  This screening looks to be a special treat, with glimpses into a private jazz stash you won't see anywhere else:

JAZZ88's Reel Jazz Film Series

Bob DeFlores Presents RARE MOMENTS IN JAZZ

The Trylon

Thu Oct 14 7:30
(various, DVD, 95min) Local film historian-preservationist Bob DeFlores, who has been collecting and restoring films since 1953, will host a very special evening of REEL JAZZ films from his personal collection. DeFlores grew up in Hollywood immersed in showbiz culture. His parents performed in movies, on the radio, and in nightclubs, and his passion for the cinema and jazz music developed early. His library of 6,000 works includes rare newsreels, cartoon shorts, sports footage, full-length features, and jazz and big band material.

These showings sell out pretty fast. Fear not, as you can buy tickets at Take-Up's website right now. The screening is Thursday at 7:30
