Before I get carried away, remember that the Julian Schnabel retrospective at the Walker begins tonight with Basquiat, and the Henry Mancini series kicks off as well with screenings all weekend at the Trylon.
Sunday sure has a lot of one-off screenings for your enjoyment. The Heights is running an encore showing of the ballet Giselle at 1:30 (that's the one with the ghosts who dance dudes to death).
"Mimosa Movies" rolls right along at the Loring Theater with a 2pm screening of the Woody Allen classic Annie Hall on Sunday. That's the film where Diane Keaton wears the hat. It's also the film that marks the end of Allen's hilarious gag movies like Love And War (watch the man try and flirt).
Moving on, we've got the MIA screening Into Great Silence at 2pm (so many matinees). This 2006 documentary by Philip Groning takes place in Grande Chartreuse, "one of the world's most ascetic monasteries." The film style mimics the environment by providing no music or narration. For the church-going types out there, I think a screening of this should cover you for the week.
