weekend bette davis film at trylon: Dark Victory

1939 was a year of many great American films.  Does Dark Victory deserve to be among the best of them?  Probably not, but Roger Angell listed it among his more memorable viewing experiences of the year.  Anyway, check it out at the Trylon this weekend:

(1939, Edmund Goulding, 35mm, 104m) Jack Warner asked Davis, "Who's gonna pay to see you die?" Plenty, as it turns out, as Dark Victory was one her biggest hits. Davis plays young socialite Judith Traherne, who is diagnosed with a brain tumor at the prime of her life. Will she live her final days as a floozy or a devoted wife?
